The following is a brief post. I just need to get some rest so that I can write more later.

Today was the first day of leadership training. Students from Bechet and Zwelibanzi came. We are breakfast, met as a large group, and broke off into our institutes. Each group will focus on one of the following disciplines: music, poetry, photography, and community-based leadership. The music institute will complete a series of small projects, including improvising music, composing instrumental and vocal music, and performing their own compositions. We will collect a pool of environmental sounds using cellphones. Those sounds will be edited and used to create instrumental tracks for recording lyrics over. This will be a lot of creative work. By the end, we will need able to distribute our recordings online and on CD (if we choose to do CDs). The funds raised from sales will be used to help fund Wright -Lead in the future.

We have a powerful team of facilitators on this journey. Our team is a combination of Wright State University students, WSU Faculty, Dayton-area professionals, University of South Africa Social Work students, and Durban-area professionals.
I wish that I want totally exhausted right now. But, I am going to bed. I will be back with a fuller blog post tomorrow. I love you all.

Peace,
G. Scott Umvikeli Jones, D.M.A.

  1. I am so proud of all you are achieving each day of your adult life. I am praying that I can soon visit the countries that have invited Mom and I and make even a small impact on their lives, in comparison to what you and Furaha have done. Please keep up the great work in always bridging the gaps between rich and poor, ethnicities, East and West, educated and less educated, sharing the blessings of Jesus that we have to share with others. I love you more than words can describe, and am grateful for Jesus blessing me with a Son like you, a “Daughter”-in- law like your wife, and such terrific Grandchildren like Evan and Aurora. I am proud of and love all of my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, but there is always a special love for you, my Son.

    Love always,
    Dad
